EContent Magazine, a leading authority on the businesses of digital publishing and media, has included Blesh Physical Web beacons as one of the top Trendsetting Products of 2015.
Physical Web, a Google project led by UX designer Scott Jenson, was introduced by Blesh as a commercial product in December 2014. Called UriBeacons, the Blesh PW Beacons are tiny low-cost Physical Web stick-on devices that weigh less than an ounce. They broadcast a URL via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smart signals that can give intelligence to physical objects and let nearby devices such as smart phones interact with them to initiate tasks, obtain information, pay for purchases or simply identify themselves to the object.
Since December, Physical Web beacons have been shipped to over 30 countries. The open-source project was embraced by developers and IoT enthusiasts, willing to change the face of IoT and create a new standard.
Watch the video below to have a look at how Physical Web beacons will work and change the way we interact with our environment.
